Resumo:

Objectives. The work aims to determine the chemical and mechanical properties of different with and without BPA dental resin-matrix composites having different organic matrices, filler loading, and filler types under the same curing and testing conditions. Methods. Discs-shaped specimens were prepared from six resin-matrix composites used in dentistry, three with BPA (Brilliant EverGlowTM, IPS Empress Direct, FiltekTM Supreme XTE) and three without (Admira Fusion, Enamel Plus HRi Bio Function Enamel, N/C). The chemical properties (water sorption and solubility) and mechanical (compressive strength, strain, Young's modulus, biaxial strength, and Knoop hardness) were analyzed. Results. There are no significant differences between the mechanical properties of the resins containing BPA in their composition and those free of this monomer and its derivatives. According to all the parameters studied, we verified that the Enamel Plus HRi Bio Function Enamel is the one that presents the best chemical mechanical behaviour. Significance. The inorganic matrix may have more influence than the organic matrix in the parameters studied, where BPA and its derivatives are found in its composition.
